Writing Your Biographies

Student Sample Writings

Sell yourself, but keep it confidential!

After registering with The Quad Connection (TQC), login to your student profile and add a quick biography to help our donors learn more about you. Please note as each profile is anonymous, and cannot contain self-identifying information, such as your name, family name or specific accomplishments where you were the only awardee. Violation of the “no self-identifying” rule will result in the bio for your profile not being approved or shown until corrections are made.  This may limit the field of potential donors you are trying to reach.

Freshman College Student

Hi there! I’m a freshman at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. While I haven’t fully decided on my major just yet, I’m extremely interested in entrepreneurship after watching my family run their own restaurant growing up. In my free time, I enjoy reading and watching soccer!

Continuing Education B.A. to M.A.

Hello! After working at a tech start-up for the past five years, I’ve decided it’s time to pursue my dream of a Master’s Degree at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Going back to school will afford me with the ability to hopefully lead my own team one day, which has been a passion of mine since entering the workforce. I could also really use the pay bump to help provide for my two young children, who have really seemed to have taken a liking to golf, which I’m told can become a very expensive hobby!

High School Student

Hi! I’m so excited to attend Duke University in the fall. I’m a HUGE basketball fan and can’t wait to watch the Blue Devils play in person for the first time ever. The first of my family to go to college, I’m thinking about majoring in biology and becoming a doctor… but if I’m being really honest, I’m still deciding!

Other College Student

Hello! I’m a Junior at Syracuse studying PR and communications with a minor in business. I have a 3.5 GPA and have really enjoyed my classes this year. Thanks to my advertising elective last fall, I’ve decided that I want to run my own advertising firm some day! For now, I’ve been working with a local coffee shop to develop a marketing and communications plan in my spare time.

Work Related Certifications

Hey! After careful consideration and weighing my options for continuing education, I’ve decided to focus my efforts on obtaining my PMP Certification from the Project Management Institute. I’m looking for a transferable skill set to accelerate my career and feel that this certification is a perfect fit for me. I regularly find myself gravitating to project management style tasks and would like to become formally trained to make me a more marketable job candidate in the future.

Trade School Student

Greetings! If I’m being perfectly honest, college has never been for me. I’m a hands-on learner and have loved cars ever since I was little. After talking it over with my family, I will be attending the Universal Technical Institute this Fall and have enrolled in the Automotive Technology Program. This program will put me on the path of becoming a mechanic!
